New York – Lenzing’s showroom spotlighted new performance claims across multiple soft home categories for market week.
In addition to long-standing attributes for Tencell lyocell fibers, testing has confirmed additional attributes that can be called out on product labels and packaging.
Rugs: Reducing static charge joins the list of performance qualities that include : light fastness, vapor uptake, biodegradability and inhibiting bacterial growth. On display are rugs manufactured in China, India and Pakistan.
Window treatments: A selection of panels produced in Turkey demonstrated the fiber’s ability to provide better wrinkle release after washing. Tencel lyocell also adds luster and sheen.
Velvet upholstery made with a cotton/Tencel blend stands up to abrasion testing. Following tests with spa oils, the construction was found we have better oil strain release, a new claim.
“People don’t realize we make many versions [of Tencel] for different applications,” said Walter Bridgham, senior business development manager of Lenzing. “Finding the right fiber is key.”
During market week appointments, the Lenzing showroom also displayed new blends and constructions for Tencel lyocell and Tencel Modal across sheets, towels, fills and shells for utility bedding and mattress ticking. Among the highlights:
